Yesterday I assisted Doctor Murray in amputating his arm about three inches from the wrist joint. On Friday last Capt. A. Kcan's house caught on Arc. From the timo it took fire until dir-.-over- ed, which was early ou Friday, must bave been fully ten or twelve hours, but it was so confined that it did not get to a flame until they had sufficient help to extinguish it, thereby preventing •what otherwise would have been a serious misfortune. Doctor Murray's presence amongst is bailed with joy. Already wc bave found his services to be of great valnc. I believe him ' be a young man of great ability, who cannot fail to be a credit to his profession. His presence is a great boon to tbo community at large." The Dr. Murray referred to is a nephew of the Rev. Mr. Murray, of Halifax, editor of the Presbyterian Witness. Capt. Kean, and Messrs.
